As part of B Corp Month 2025, the B Corp community in Singapore came together for an inspiring GenB Day of Service. This year’s event, organised by Assembly Global's Singapore office, focused on the urgent issue of food waste and featured a meaningful food distribution drive.
The activities kicked-off at Mono Foods SG, where co-founder Leonard Shee, shared eye-opening insights about the growing food waste problem in Singapore. He explained how Mono Foods is tackling the issue by redistributing packaged foods that are still perfectly safe to eat even if they are near or past their “use by” or “sell by” dates. These are items typically removed from supermarket shelves to make space for “fresher” stock, but they are still packed full of nutritional value and taste just as good.

Next, the volunteer teams got hands-on experience in sorting, packing, and distributing food, while also building connections and working as teams. It was an opportunity to make new friends and share in the joy of giving. The Day of Service was informative, active, engaging, and a bit of a workout too!
Teams from Assembly Global, B Lab Singapore, Tsao Family Office, and Mahlab joined forces to support the initiative, reflecting the deep sense of community that lies at the heart of the B Corp Movement. The most rewarding moments were seeing the smiles of the families and individuals who received the redistributed goodies.
This Day of Service was a strong reminder that collective action can drive meaningful change, from reducing waste, to supporting vulnerable groups, to fostering stronger bonds within and across organisations.
“Through a deeper conversation with Leonard after the event, I learned just how widespread the food waste issue really is. I'm grateful for the chance to be part of the event, and I’ll definitely be back to support Mono Foods and pick up some goodies for my family to enjoy!” — Cecilia, B Lab Singapore
Mono Foods continues to support sustainability-minded individuals and underserved communities through their space at Tekka Place, as well as through regular door-to-door food distribution drives. Find out how you can get involved here.
“It was incredibly fulfilling to see our volunteering efforts improve the lives of families in need. The hands-on opportunity to give back to our community allowed us to experience how small actions can add to a big impact. We're grateful to be part of this community where purpose-driven people unite to lead meaningful actions to protect the world around us. The B Corp journey isn't easy; it demands time, effort, and passion, but commitment to our people and planet stays strong.” — Nikko Ip, Assembly Global
